How to Edit Service Type

Modified on Tue, 14 Jan at 9:34 AM

When adding a Tour/Service to an itinerary’s day-by-day details, the Service Type helps categorize the service being provided, such as Tours, Transfers, Components, Meals, and more. Each Service Type is associated with a Service Group, which determines how the information is presented in trip proposals. This guide will walk you through the process of editing Service Types to ensure your itineraries are organized and visually clear.

Accessing the Service Type List

To edit a Service Type, start by navigating to the your Company Profile, then click on the Lists tab and search for Service Type in the dropdown.

This will bring up the full list of Service Types currently available for your company. Each Service Type includes options to delete, edit, or reassign values.

Managing Service Types

Deleting a Service Type

When you delete a Service Type:

  • All records that were assigned this Service Type will be set to empty.

  • This action cannot be undone, so ensure that the Service Type is no longer needed before deleting.

Editing a Service Type

Editing allows you to:

  • Change the name of an existing Service Type.

  • Update all records with the new value automatically.

For example, if you change “Tour” to “Excursion,” all existing records labeled as “Tour” will now display as “Excursion.”

Reassigning a Service Type

If you want to merge two Service Types:

  • Edit a Service Type and assign it to an existing Service Type.

  • All records using the original Service Type will be updated to reflect the new, merged value.

For example, if “Transfer” and “Transportation” both exist as Service Types, you can reassign “Transfer” to “Transportation,” consolidating them into one.

Understanding Service Groups

Every Service Type is linked to a Service Group, which controls how the service appears in trip proposals. Below are the available Service Group options, with examples to clarify their use:

Text Only

  • Services in this group will only display text descriptions and do not appear in the Confirmation Outline.

  • Example: Notes or instructions for travelers, such as “Meet your guide at the lobby.”

Text and Title

  • Services will show both the title (e.g., "Private Transfer") and text descriptions in the trip proposal.

  • Example: “Private Transfer from Airport to Hotel” with additional details.

Text and Summary

  • Includes the title, text, and a brief summary.

  • Example: A tour with a title ("City Walking Tour"), a summary ("Explore historic landmarks"), and additional detailed description

All

  • Displays all available information, including title, text, summary, and other relevant details.

  • Example: A meal booking with specific details about location, time, and inclusions.

Call Out

  • Highlights specific details in the proposal, drawing attention to key information.

  • Example: Special promotions or limited-time offers.

Tips for Selecting Service Groups

  • Use Text Only for internal notes or background information that does not need to be shared with clients.

  • Choose Text and Title or Text and Summary for clear, client-facing descriptions that include a mix of brief and detailed information.

  • Option for All when providing full details about a service, such as a multi-day tour with complex inclusions.

  • Use Call Out sparingly to emphasize critical or unique elements of the trip, such as a special dinner or private experience.
