This guide will walk you through the process of configuring a subdomain for use with Oasis. By setting up a custom subdomain, you can replace the default domain (yourdomain.myoasisapp.com) with something more personalized, like trips.yourdomain.com.
The subdomain can be any term you choose, such as bookings.yourdomain.com or adventures.yourdomain.com, allowing you to tailor it to your brand or the services you offer. This custom subdomain will then be used for your public-facing pages, including trip itineraries and confirmations. To begin:
1. Log in to GoDaddy
Start by logging into your GoDaddy Domain Control Center. If needed, you can retrieve your username or password from the GoDaddy login page.
2. Select Your Domain
Once logged in, choose the domain you want to modify from the list of available domains. This will take you to the Domain Settings page.
3. Manage DNS
Under the Additional Settings section, select Manage DNS. This is where you can make any necessary adjustments to your domain's DNS settings.
4. Add a New Record
Click Add to create a new DNS record. Here, you will configure your subdomain to point to the correct server.
5. Configure the "A" Record
From the Type menu, choose A. An A record is necessary to point your subdomain to an IP address.
Name: Enter the subdomain you want to use (e.g., "trips"). For example, if your main domain is yourdomain.com, your subdomain will be trips.yourdomain.com.
Value: This should be the IP address provided by your hosting service. For Oasis users, this IP is 74.124.194.40.
TTL: Leave this set to the default of 1 hour, which determines how long the server caches your DNS information.
6. Save the Record
After entering the necessary information, click Add Record. DNS updates usually take effect within an hour but can take up to 48 hours to update globally.
7. Notify Oasis Support
Once your subdomain is set up, send an email to [email protected] to notify the Oasis Support team. They will:
Configure your account to use the subdomain for all public-facing pages (trip itineraries, confirmations, etc.).
Set up an SSL certificate to ensure the security of your subdomain.
And that is how to Configure Your DNS to Use a Custom Domain (GoDaddy) on the Oasis Travel Platform! We hope you found this guide helpful. If you need additional help or want to share your thoughts, reach out at [email protected].We love hearing from you and are always here to help.
